To enter this fast-paced field, you need career-specific skills. 91¶ÌÊÓƵAPP’s Indianapolis campus offers a Medical Assistant Technology program through which graduates earn an Associate of Applied Science degree.
This program starts with the Medical Assistant diploma program curriculum, then continues with 3 additional courses specializing in medical insurance billing procedures, electronic medical record keeping, and medical coding, as well as 5 general education courses to fulfill degree requirements. This program includes the 160-hour internship capstone course, which gives the student real clinical time to experience working with patients in a medical setting. Successfully completing this final course indicates that you have knowledge and skills needed to perform duties recognized by industry and program-specific standards.
As a Medical Assistant, you’ll work directly with patients by taking their vital signs, recording medical histories, collecting specimens and other duties. 91¶ÌÊÓƵAPP’s training programs prepare you to sit for the Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) exam offered by the American Medical Technologists (AMT).
