In November of 2021, The President of the United States signed the new infrastructure bill into law. Part of this plan is the modernization of the nation’s bridges, roadways and airports. With an already existing shortage of skilled welders, this new bill highlights both the ongoing need for welders as well as the opportunity available to those who pursue this career path. The U.S. Department of Labor projects that by 2031 there will be a 2% increase in the number of welders needed to meet this nationwide demand. And the need is even larger in Connecticut, which projects a 17% growth rate from 2020 to 20301.
